Welcome Message

Reason for Our Existence

Welcome to the Amengor Drug Discovery and Development (A3D) Research Symposium housed at the Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry, School of Pharmacy, University of Health and Allied Sciences (UHAS), Ho, Ghana.

As the PI, I am delighted to introduce you to our symposium, established in 2020 to create an enabling environment for nurturing early-career scientists, building and sustaining capacity. This group runs an integrated drug-discovery platform located at three sites across two campuses.

Our team members are highly qualified and experienced and dedicated to drug development, skills training, and capacity building. They bring a wealth of expertise and are actively engaged in cutting-edge research projects — ensuring our output matches world-class standards and equipping Ghana with the skills it needs to become a global player in drug discovery and development.

The A3D Symposium also serves as a networking platform for evidence-based medicinal chemistry, bridging the gap between computational and bench activities. We leverage molecular modelling, virtual screening, ADME-Tox prediction and structure-based drug design to identify and optimise promising therapeutic candidates, which we then validate through synthesis and experimental assays — creating room for continental equatorial access.

Our collaborations with local and international industry partners and research institutions give students unique opportunities to engage in meaningful research addressing real-world challenges. We are dedicated to accelerating the drug discovery pipeline through the power of in silico methods and chemical synthesis.

Our goal is to create a supportive and nurturing environment where students thrive through rigorous, reproducible science — contributing to the global effort of bringing safe and effective therapeutics to patients.

We invite you to navigate our webpage to learn more about our ground-breaking research. Thank you for being part of our vibrant and dynamic community.

A3D Symposium — Ubuntu! Best regards, Dr. Cedric Dzidzor Kodjo Amengor.
